Intro
Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and is committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society. IOM is part of the United Nations system, as a related organization. Bangladesh became a Member State of IOM on 27 November 1990 and the IOM mission in Bangladesh was officially established in 1998. IOM continues to support the Government of Bangladesh to view migration as a phenomenon, holistically and strategically, as well as to understand how migration policy can influence and be influenced by external factors. IOM’s institutional tools endorsed by Member States, including the Migration Crisis Operational Framework (MCOF); Migration Governance Framework (MiGoF); and Global Compact for Migration for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM); continue to serve as supportive policy development tools in this regard. Provision of technical assistance and capacity building to Government of Bangladesh counterparts will remain IOM’s focus, ensuring that key stakeholders have the skills, capacity, tools, and policy frameworks to ensure sound migration management as well as meeting the immediate, midterm and long-term needs of migrants and their communities.

Testimonials

Sarif is a highly competent professional. I was impressed by his drive and passion for his work. When faced with what most colleagues would regard as an insurmountable challenge, he would view it merely as a speed bump. One of Sarif's many strengths is his ability to 'think big' and I was very impressed by the televised Concert for Migrants that he organized in 2020 and 2021. Sarif works well within a team and has an extensive personal network. I noted the investment he makes to stay in touch with former colleagues and friends. Sarif's varied skill set and his commitment to 'get things done' are an asset to any team. I would certainly work with him again if there is an opportunity. In our time working together, I saw first hand Sarif's commitment to be better and do better through taking on courses to develop his skills, to attending events to build knowledge, and proactively engaging in initiatives that would support his professional development. I will follow his career with great interest.

Sariful is an excellent communications expert. I worked with him at IOM Bangladesh for over two years. Sariful is always prepared to provide a hand when necessary, he is very passionate about telling stories with innovative ideas and communications tools. For instance, ‘Concert for Migrants’ was one of his projects that enabled IOM Bangladesh to reach millions of people globally. I'm sure he would be an asset to any organisation.
